26th of April is not just a date in a calendar. This is a day when Ukraine together with the whole world does remembrance of those who suffered because of Chornobyl disaster, those who’ve given their own health or even life while staying up on the frontline, battling the consequences of this disaster.

It’s sorrowful to say that the Chornobyl nuclear disaster is touching our everyday lives too. The history has not taught anything neither russian ruling class, nor russians themselves. The russian occupants were riding in their tanks on the soil of the most dangerous exclusion zone, and Zaporizzhyan Nuclear Power Plant is in critical state in occupation for two years now.

Chornobyl in the real picture of today.

At night from 25th unto 26th of April of 1986, there was an explosion on the fourth power unit of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which caused huge doses of radiation and radioactive elements to be emitted into the air. This became the largest industrial disaster in XX century.

moscow has long been hiding the whole truth about the disaster’s horrible consequences. The official newspapers of communist party were stating: “Everything is well in Chornobyl – the radiation level does not exceed the permissible norms”.

History has not taught russians anything…

On 24 February russian forces invaded into Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and, during one month, were pretending to control situation on the station, allowing only limited shifts of the personnel.

russian troops began to entrench and build fortifying structures in Rydii Lis, the most dangerous part of the exclusion zone, where in 1986 there had fallen the most of radioactive dust.

The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine fixated that the level of gamma rays was amplified in 20 times – from 3 to 65 mks/h.

This is connected with riding of military equipment in place of exclusion zone, which caused the radioactive dust that was previously staying on the ground, to burst into air.

Experts stated that there was a possibility of a big nuclear disaster in that region.

Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Denysenko confirmed that rising of the radiation level was fixated for the first time after the disaster of Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986.

On 4 March 2022, russian militants with weapons, against all norms of international law, occupied Zaporizzhyan Nuclear Power Plant.

This is an unprecedented case, which put not only Ukraine but also the whole continent onto the verge of a catastrophe.

In the time of 2 occupation years russians have multiple times violated the main nuclear safety principles, when allocating military equipment on ZNPP’s territory, mining the territory and terrorizing the personnel.

The decision of IAEA about returning ZNPP under the control of Energoatom has been ignored by the invaders.

On this day, we remember people and occurrences, which happened in Chornobyl on 26 April 1986.

But still, actions of russians, which happen in time of this full-scale invasion, might call onto a new tragedy.

The whole world has to unite around helping Ukraine in order to stop the russian aggressor and do not let occupants cause a new global-scale tragedy.
